The epitome of jeans, a true classic.
When you hear that, the first thing that comes to mind is
Levi’s 501.
In 1873, when workers in fields, mines, forests, and mills needed
durable pants,
Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis
created pants reinforced with rivets using denim fabric,
which is said to be the birth of the world’s first 501 jeans.

This is a MADE IN USA Levi’s 501.
And it’s a black denim that’s been gaining popularity.
It’s already a hard-to-find, hard-to-get item,
but this one is even rarer
and is considered a vintage piece
because it’s pre-dyed.
Levi’s started making book denim around 1986, when red tabs ended.
Among them, this pre-dyed denim was produced
from the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
It’s said that the production period was less than 10 years.
Among the many types of Levi’s denim,
this item has a very short production period,
making it extremely rare.

Why is pre-dyed considered better?
Post-dyed denim is dyed black after it’s made,
so both the front and back are completely black.
On the other hand, pre-dyed denim uses black-dyed yarn for the warp and white yarn for the weft.
The key is that the front is black and the back is white.
The unique gray color that comes from fading in pre-dyed denim is created when the black on the front fades and mixes with the white on the back.
In other words, it’s a unique aging process that only pre-dyed denim can achieve.
